Co-creation or change?
This co-challenge is an initiative of the Graduate School of Life Sciences and Career Services of Utrecht University in cooperation with The City of Utrecht. Professionals from the educational, governmental and corporate world will join us in this challenge. You may wonder why we developed this co-creation challenge for you?
The scientific world is realising the need to connect with society by contributing to solutions for various current societal problems. A sustainable approach is through interdisciplinary collaboration between students from various fields, governmental bodies, and the corporate world. This format demands the capacity of the students to be creative, versatile, and well prepared to participate in fast-paced, information-rich, and collaborative forms of doing science. Giving students the space to discover themselves and use their curiosity, enthusiasm, and creativity enables them to come up with innovative ideas that could contribute to the needs of today’s society. Like Franklin Delano Roosevelt once said, “We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build the youth for our future”.
We would like to provide you with the opportunity and the tools to become a co-creator. You will use your own unique set of experiences and skills. You will invest your time and energy to deliver a solution for the client and along the way you will have the opportunity to extend your network and work on your skills with the help of peers, young professional and seniors. You will give and receive valuable feedback from your peers and get more insight into your own talents and skills.
Working on a solution which involves changing the behaviour of people implicates that you need a diverse group of experts and users to investigate, discover and decompose the problem before you can find a solution. Change will happen if we engage each other to join and combine our experiences, knowledge and skills to make creative discoveries and solutions.
“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world” – Harriet Tubman
